Please note: This is a Amateur Theatre Club and an amateur production i.e. community theatre. Therefor actors don't get paid (or nobody in the production for that matter) due to the nature of the organisation.

Westville Theatre Club is excited to announce that auditions for their next production “unPlugged – The Musical” will be held on Sunday, 18 June from 12:00, and Monday, 19 June from 18:00 at Westville Theatre Club, adjacent to Westville Swimming Pool.

UnPlugged is inspired by the music of The Bee Gees, Simon and Garfunkel, and Crosby, Stills and Nash and songs of these artists will feature throughout. The theme of the musical is a mixture of a touch of comedy, real-life situations and of course, love!

Producer and scriptwriter, Daniel Oosthuizen is no stranger to theatre having been actively involved with the Franklin Players based in Roosevelt, Johannesburg since 2007 and more recently, the Westville Theatre Club’s One Act Play Festival.

Says Daniel: “For our casting we need a variety of characters and personality types – there will be room for additional characters to grow should the actors create a need thereof. Although we primarily require singers, there is room for actors who feel like they would like to feature in non-singing roles (a little bit of singing wouldn’t hurt!). There will be minimal choreography, although there will be numbers that will focus and feature only on the stronger dancers.”

Those interested in auditioning should prepare any song of their choice (of any artist) to show their singing abilities and bring their own backtracks or musical accompaniment. If assistance with backtracks is needed, please contact Daniel BEFORE the audition for backtracks.

All ages are welcome (12 – 92) as the story has your typical character types, for a variety of actors or singers to choose from. From the love-struck romantic, typical jock, good old-fashioned married couples, superficial narcissist, the celebrity, the comic, typical blond and even a narrator!

Show dates will be 25 to 27 August and 31 August to 2 September 2017. Rehearsals will take place throughout June, July and August 2017, and will be mainly on Sundays (afternoon and/or evenings) with occasional weekly individual rehearsal nights.

Everybody is invited to participate in this fun-filled experience – not only does it create an opportunity for you to be on stage and shine, but the whole project inspires new social activities and new friendships – It’s the journey, not the destination!
