Pemads auditions for Rent, PE

The Port Elizabeth Musical and Dramatic Society (Pemads) will hold auditions for the musical, Rent, in the Little Theatre this weekend, March 3 and 4 2018.

The Tony Award-winning show is set to run from Wednesday, May 16, to Tuesday, June 5, in the same venue.

Rent is a multi-award-winning rock musical loosely based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Bohème which deals with a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life for themselves in New York City’s East Village in the ’90s and living in the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

Intending cast members, who should all look like they are in their 20s or 30s, should be warned that this is very much an adult show with the best-known song being Seasons of Love.

Singing auditions will be from 2pm on Saturday, March 3, with dancing auditions and call-backs on Sunday, March 4, from the same time, all at the Little Theatre.

Backtrack technical assistance will be available as well as an auditions pianist and all singing auditionees will be required to stay till the end for a group choral session with Petrus and Chireen.

Dance auditionees should come dressed appropriately.

No schoolchildren are required for this production.
